I had a great time with these night photographs. Taking photos at night has always intimidated me in the past and I have just avoiding having to take photos at night. Now that I have tackled this project I am much more confident in my ability at taking night photographs. The image of the moon was a good learning experience because I tried out a ton of different shutter speeds and aperture settings to try and get the results I wanted. I am happy with how it turned out, because I wanted the moon and branches to be sharp and bright and the rest of the photo to be dark. This creates a beautiful but erie mood. The other night photo was also a learning experience. I set my tripod and camera up outside of a sketchy motel with bright pink neon lights. Using the longest shutter speed available to me (8 seconds) two flashlights, and a friend I created some light trails. I would get my camera all set up and used a self timer then would run out in front of the camera and join my friend and start waving around my flashlight. It took a lot of practice shots to find the perfect settings for this shot, but once I had the aperture where I wanted it I got a lot of photographs that I liked. I like how the neon lights add a pink glow over the entire picture. The lights trials are also very sharp and make interesting lines and shapes. I also tried to frame the picture using the two hotel doors.
